Ballet Des Moines presents The Nutcracker

Ballet Des Moines’ Nutcracker pairs their professional and pre-professional dancers with young ballet students from dance studios throughout central Iowa.

Experience the adventures of a girl named Clara as she journeys to a distant land where a prince battles mischievous mice, flowers waltz and a Sugar Plum Fairy delights children of every age.

Iowa Dance Theatre presents their 22nd performance of The Nutcracker ballet. The ballet is choreographed and directed by a team of dance professionals from Des Moines and the surrounding area.  This year, there are over 240 dancers from approximately 36 dance studios from throughout central Iowa participating in the ballet.

Dance Theatre of Iowa’s The Nutrcracker Performance Dates & Times:

December 15, 2018 at 2:00 and 7:00 pm
December 16, 2018 at 2:00 pm

Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Parties are scheduled at 12:30 pm on December 15 and 16, this is a fun event before the matinee shows. Tickets to the Tea are $15 and can be purchased at the Des Moines Civic Center Ticket Office.

Iowa State Center’s production of The Nutcracker Ballet

The Nutcracker Ballet tells the story of a young girl, a heroic prince, and the fantastic dream they share. From the opening party scene to the last tinkling notes of Tchaikovsky’s famous score, a festive holiday spirit permeates the whole performance.

Now in its 38th year, The Nutcracker Ballet at Stephens Auditorium has become an annual holiday tradition for many families in central Iowa. This classic fairy tale comes to life by showcasing the sensational talent of over 200 local dancers and principal dancers performing the roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier.

Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 1:30 pm and 7:30 pm
Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 1:30 pm

There will be a Tea with Clara and the Mouse King on December 8th at 4:00 pm. Tickets to the tea are $7 per person.
