I think I may have found my soulmate! Mosey on over to this ice cream shop in downtown Des Moines near the Pappajohn Sculpture Park and sample some of their ever-changing ice cream flavors. As of September 26th, they’re serving up Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal Cream Pie Ice Cream. The flavor says “fall,” but the ice cream says, there’s still a few warm days ahead. Be sure not to dawdle, because I have a feeling they will sell out of this flavor fast!

It has layers of moist pumpkin cake iced with a caramel buttercream, topped with a drizzle of homemade salted caramel and candied pecans. Are you drooling yet?!? It’s a seasonal cake so, be sure to enjoy it while you can.

Well here it is, with a bonus Autumn Bliss Latte ( a blend of butterscotch, caramel and cinnamon) from the Twisted Bean Coffee Company in Urbandale or on SE 14th Street. While pie is delicious all seasons of the year, I have a special place in my heart (stomach? same thing?) for a warm, gooey, flakey-crusted slice of deliciousness in the fall. Pleasin’ Pies is a licensed home bakery that distributes pies to local eateries, including Ritual Café and Corner Cafe. You can also order directly from them on their website or by calling. Be sure to check in for their daily list of pies on their Facebook page and dig in to a blissful taste of autumn!
