All your kiddo wants to do is play video or role playing games non-stop with their buddies. But you want them to go to the library and learn something new. Luckily you can both be happy with the many gaming events and activities offered at Des Moines area libraries. Check out these five library events that your little gamer will love.
Minecraft Mania will be at the Clive Library this summer. They will celebrate all things Minecraft with Creeper crafts, games and snacks. Registration required for children in third grade and older. Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 2:00 pm.
Kids can bring their Pokémon playing cards and Nintendo DS to battle other Pokémon fans at the East Side Library. Pokémon Club meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.
Teen Minecraft or Lego Robotics/Snap Circuits Night at the Kirkendall Library in Ankeny. Teens can enjoy pizza, pop and Minecraft or Lego Robotics/Snap Circuits. They can enjoy a great evening playing or building and relaxing and visiting with friends. March 25, 2016 at 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Pre-registration required at the Kid’s Desk.
Kids ages 8 to 12 years of age are encouraged to test their Minecraft skills on the Youth Services computers and with console games at the Urbandale Public Library. Weekly on Mondays from 4:00 to 5:30 pm.
As part of the Waukee Library’s weekly Wednesday Teen Programs they offer open gaming on their Xbox 360 and Wii consoles. For kids in grades 6-12; 1:30 to 3:30 pm on early out days and 3:30 to 4:30 pm on regular dismissal days.
