Based on Kate DiCamillo’s book, this is a story of friendship andfinding oneself. Edward Tulane is a very happy but a very self-centered toy china rabbit owned by 10-year-old Abilene Tulane. As Abilene and her family go on an ocean voyage, Edward is ripped from her hands and finds himself submerged on the ocean floor.

Note: As in the book, Edward’s journey takes him into experiences that include some violence and the death of a character. Some children may find these scenes to be sad or emotionally disturbing.

Tot Lot @ Waukee Public Works Building

Romp, stomp and play! We have the setup to meet your children’s activity and social needs this fall and winter.  With toddler toys ranging from blocks to tunnels and moats, there’s no shortgage of action here.  We provide the fun.  Parents provide the supervision in this open gym for toddlers where kids love to play and parents get to socialize with one another.  This is a non-structured activitiy.  Tot Lot will be canceled when Waukee Schools are delayed or canceled due to inclement weather.

Tot Lot will be closed 11/12, 12/24 and 2/18 but will be open the week of Spring Break.

Looking to inspire your little ones imagination and get them moving? Join us at Pioneer Columbus Community Center for the “Imagination Playschool”.

Imagination Playschool allows kids 7 and under the chance to make new friends and play on all kinds of equipment: climbing tower, imagination playground, big wheels, play houses, tumbling mats, and gymnastics.

We also have a bounce house on the LAST Friday of the month only, with 10 paying children present.

It’s simple! We provide the fun (toys & equipment), you provide the child and supervision! This drop-in program is a perfect opportunity for the little ones to burn off some energy while parents have an opportunity to connect. Free wifi available. No pre-registration needed. 10:30 am to 12:00 Noon.
Details:
For ages 1-5 years, with adult supervision. Playground is cancelled on days when Indianola schools are delayed or cancelled due to inclement weather.

Need a place for your toddler to burn some energy this winter? Tired of the crowded mall play area? Bring the kiddos to the Tot Lot at Giovannetti Community Shelter! Toddler toys, balls, tunnels, mats, music and more will be available in the large community room to get the kids running and playing.

Parents/caretakers are required to stay and watch their children. Register child only.
Register for just one day at a time or all 11 sessions. Supervised by City Staff.

Want to get your little one out of the house to play? Come and play with us inside this winter! This program provides a place for care givers to bring their children to play in a safe and fun environment, and it’s a great way to make new friends! This is not a structured play group, but rather an open space for kids to move around, play, laugh, and have fun! We provide the activities and care givers provide the supervision. Care givers are required to stay. 9:00am-10:30am.

Family Fun Night @ Pioneer Columbus Community Recreation Center

Join us every Friday night at Pioneer Columbus Community Recreation Center from 5 to 8 p.m. for Family Fun Nights!

Participants will have full access to all amenities at the newly renovated facility for basketball, pickleball, dodge ball in the gym. We also have board games, a ping pong table a pool table, weight room, computer lab and cardio room for your enjoyment. Enjoy special programing for the 3rd Friday of the Month November-February.

Bison on the Winter Prairie @ Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge

Then take a guided walk along the ½- mile Overlook Trail to get some exercise and search for bison and elk herds while enjoying the winter landscape.
