These classes are the perfect opportunity for families to have a creative experience at the Botanical Garden. These hands-on workshops are designed for youth ages 4-14 and an adult to build a take-home project together. Please note one adult is required for every three youth participants. Registration required.

Terrariums Friday, Aug. 3, 1-2:15 p.m.

Experience one of our most popular classes as you learn how to care for and build your own small-scale ecosystem to take home.

Nature Weaving Saturday, Sept. 22, 1-2:15 p.m.

Use plants, grasses and other natural materials to weave a miniature loom and then take home your beautiful botanical tapestry.

Carnivorous Plant Terrariums Friday, Oct. 26, 10:30-11:45 a.m.

Insect-eating plants, oh my! Learn about carnivorous plants and their bizarre adaptations for survival. Then plant and decorate your own spooky terrarium to take home.

Homemade Pumpkin Pie Tuesday, Nov. 13, 5:30-6:45 p.m.

You and your child will prepare this classic dessert from the perfect crust to the delicious fresh filling. Master the art of pie making for the holiday season and take home a pie to enjoy.

Members: $20 Youth/Adult Pair, $15 Additional Youth

Social Irrigation @ Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden

Social Irrigation is a 15-week long program of Thursday night concerts hosted by the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, featuring a new band, food, craft beer and lawn games each week. Trellis Café will be open with small plates and your favorite beverage. The variety of musical genre in the series will provide something for every musical taste. Regular cost of admission applies.
