Rock out Wednesdays @ Clive Public Library

Rock out with us this summer, by exploring your passions and talents through diverse learning experiences.

Rock Painting: Rock out with rock painting! We will provide supplies so you may enjoy an afternoon of creativity. You will receive two rocks to paint, one to take home and one to leave here at the library for our collective art project. You are welcome to bring additional rocks from home. June 6 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Library Community Room Drop-in program.

Kids Pokémon Card Club: Rock out with other Pokémon fans while trading cards. Bring cards you want to trade, and we will provide Pokémon-inspired activities and a snack. June 13 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Library Community Room RSVP to Amanda at amiller@cityofclive.com.

Cosmic Comics Club: Rock out with Comics! Whether you’re a fan of classic comic books like Superman or the hilarious hero graphic novels of Captain Underpants, we have a cosmically cool club for you! Hula Hoop Workshop: Rock out with hula hoops! An instructor will teach basics of hula hooping along with tower building, obstacle courses, dance, and music. Each participant will get to choose and decorate their own hula hoop to take home. July 11 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Library Community Room Space limited. RSVP to Amanda at amiller@cityofclive.com.

Makerspace Mania: Rock out on technology and art while enjoying stations for the varying ages groups. Stations include: Snap circuits, littlebits, and an art corner. July 18 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Library Community Room RSVP to Amanda at amiller@cityofclive.com.

Thursday Night Fun @ Clive Public Library

Families with children of various ages will delight in making memories during our Thursday night programs! As a reminder, these programs are free and pre-registration is necessary as indicated below.

Please register for each child attending unless otherwise noted. Go online, call, or stop in the library to register.

Registration starts at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1 for Clive residents and Tuesday, May 8 for non-residents.

Jester Puppets: Ahoy, mateys! Grab your bandana, eye patch or captain’s hat to transform into a pirate and join us on a thrilling, high seas adventure. BOOM! Stories and Science: Dogs that oink? Alien attacks? Clouds in the library and bubbles galore? Join us for a unique performance with comedian, storyteller, and mad scientist, Will Stuck, as he shares his favorite stories and experiments. This is a show loaded with laughs, ooh and aahs and plenty of audience participation. June 21 6:15 – 7:15 p.m. Library Community Room Drop-in program.

Science Center of Iowa — Global Soundscapes: What do vibrations look like in slow motion? How do animals use sound to survive? What do sounds tell us about the health of our planet? Join the Science Center of Iowa to meet a team of soundscape ecologists and hear the Earth in a whole new way! June 28 6:15 – 7:00 p.m. Library Community Room Drop-in program.

Cardboard Car Drive-in Movie: Roll on in with your sweet cardboard car and enjoy a free showing of a rocking family friendly movie (PG). Popcorn is provided. Feel free to bring a drink of choice. Need a car for the drive-in? We will have cardboard and other supplies ready for car making two hours before the movie begins.
