Come read to a Therapy Pet at the library! Volunteers from the Animal Rescue League’s Therapets program will be bringing two, trained therapy dogs to the library to read with children. Kids can pick out their favorite book and read it to a furry friend. This is a great way for kids to gain confidence with reading aloud.

Ages 5+ (children must be accompanied by an adult)
Please register online for this program.  This event will be broken down into individual sessions. You will be contacted before the event and assigned a specific time.

Stranger Things @ Altoona Public Library

Come celebrate the premiere of “Stranger Things” Season 2 in The Right-Side Up at the library!  We’ll have the new season streaming all evening, along with classic ’80s snacks and games.

Not a “Stranger Things” superfan?  That’s cool!  We’ll also have board games, ping pong, coloring sheets, and more!  Grab a friend and come hang out!

Dinner and drinks will be provided.

The fine print:  Grades 7-12; registration required!  All participants must turn in a signed and completed permission slip before being admitted. Permission slips are available at the circulation desk, and will also be available the evening of.  Participants will be dropped off at 5PM in the library meeting room, and no one may leave or enter the building until pick up at 8PM.

Fun Size Kitchen @ Altoona Public Library

t’s lunch time, so let’s measure, mix, and make something amazing together!  Preschoolers and their caregivers will prepare a snack based on a story you’ll love. We’ll also learn important kitchen skills like following directions, stirring,mashing, scooping, pouring, and cutting (with supervision) .  This program is aimed at Pre-K children, but siblings are welcome.
