Even though it’s cold outside there are several sweet events that will warm up your heart and bring you closer to your family, friends and others around you. Organizations across the metro are throwing some fun-filled dance parties for families of all kinds. Celebrate love at one of these local dances and events, starting in January.

2019 Giddy Up Gala SEP Father Daughter Dance

The Clay Elementary PTA has a boot scootn’ good time planned for their annual Father Daughter Dance. Young ladies in Pre-K through 6th grade and their father or caregiver in the Southeast Polk School District will enjoy an evening of fun. “Giddy Up Gala” features a DJ, raffle, refreshments, professional photographer, selfie stations, coat check, and more.

Father Daughter Enchantment Ball

Celebrate with your little sweethearts at the Mommy and Me Dance! This dance is for central Iowa moms and their kiddos and all proceeds benefit Variety and their mission to improve the lives of children who are at-risk, underprivileged, critically ill or living with special needs. The event features dancing, snacks, desserts, a magician, face painting, a fun photo booth, guest appearances from some well-known superheroes and princesses along with an arts and crafts station. The first 200 moms to check in the day of the event will receive a Fareway grocery bag. (Please note the new location, the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny.)

Daddy Daughter Sweetheart Dance

Join West Des Moines Parks and Recreation for their annual community event that provides a unique opportunity for “Sweethearts” to spend an evening together. A child friendly, light Italian meal will be served buffet style along with a variety of desserts during the festivities. A video DJ, Thunder and Lightning, will wow the crowd with two huge video screens and family-friendly music. Photos will be available from University Photo for a small additional fee, and a box of conversation hearts will be handed out to each child at departure.

This event provides fathers, grandfathers or father figures an opportunity to take their daughters or granddaughters, in first through fifth grade, out for an evening of fun and dancing. In addition to dancing, there will be door prizes, refreshments and a dessert buffet.
