Celebrate the Year of the Rooster at a Chinese Restaurant in Des Moines

In China New Year’s Eve is seen as an important date, with families gathering together for a reunion dinner. Firecrackers are then let off to signal the end of last year and the beginning of next. The Year of the Rooster will begin on January 28, 2017 and celebrations will last until February 12th. In honor of the holiday, we’ve rounded up a list of restaurants where you can enjoy some Chinese cuisine, with your family, in the Des Moines area.

Iron Wok

Nothing says comfort food like Chinese food. This bustling family restaurant in West Des Moines is a big hit with families. Serving a variety of Chinese, Szechwan, Hunan and Thai dishes, Iron Wok can easily please groups with different cravings.

P.F. Chang’s

One of my daughter’s favs, P.F. Chang’s serves up their meals family-style — so everyone has the opportunity to eat a little of this and a little of that. We typically share an order of Lettuce Wraps, which are quickly devoured.  And no worries if you have a picky eater, they also have a great Kid’s Menu with several healthy, economical choices.

Rice Bowl is the perfect place to take your kiddos after shopping in Beaverdale. Families love that many of the Cantonese dishes are served family-style which can make things easier for you and your kiddy crew. Choose from dishes like, Beef Tenderloin with Oyster Sauce, Fresh Shrimp with Lobster-Style Sauce, Diced Chicken with Walnuts or Cashews and more.
