College Wrestling Meets for Families near Des Moines

The state of Iowa holds a very important place in the history of collegiate wrestling. We have two of the top wrestling programs in the country at ISU and UofI and have produced several national champions.  Now more than ever the sport needs fans to come out and support it! Every November the action on the mat starts back up.  Bring your kids to experience some real wrestling fun at one of these local colleges near Des Moines.

Here’s where you can take in a college wrestling meet in the Des Moines area: 

Central College

Central began its season this November. Meets are held in the P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium or Field House.  Visit Central’s website for their full schedule and roster.  Meet tickets can be purchased at the gate. 

Grand View University

Grandview has become a powerhouse wrestling school.  The Vikings should be a major force on the mat again this year with several returning national champions on the roster.  They host a few home meets this year, so be sure to visit Grandview’s Athletic site for their full schedule and details.  Single meet tickets can be purchased at the gate.

Iowa State University

This year’s home slate at Hilton Coliseum features the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk dual vs. Iowa, as well as four Big 12 duals. The full Cyclone wrestling schedule and dual tickets can be purchased on-line.  Jr. Cyclone Kid’s Club members receive general admission to all home wrestling meets.

Simpson College

The Storm are ready to take the mat this year.  They will host several home meets again this winter. Visit Simpson’s Athletic site for the full  Storm wrestling schedule.  Meet tickets can be purchased at the gate.
