Even though school is back in session, it’s technically summer until September 22, 2017. You’ll want to get out and enjoy the last warm days of the season to the fullest in Des Moines.  So, grab your kids and get crackin’!  Don’t let the last moments of summer pass you by!

1. Late August and the beginning of September can be scorchers! Take advantage of this late summer hot weather and visit a sprayground or fountain with your kids.  They’re open until October 11th in Des Moines. Just be sure to pack the sunscreen and hats!

2. Ice cream and warm weather go together like Bert and Ernie, peanut butter and jelly, Tom and Jerry…ok, you get the picture. So, why not take the kids out to enjoy a cool treat in Des Moines?

3. Take the fam out to explore Adventureland. Indulge in the carnival atmosphere with rides, face-painting, cotton candy, and an old-fashioned arcade.  They’re open weekends ONLY until September 24, 2017.

6. With the kids back in school there is less time for overnight vacations, we’re lucky because there are tons of family day trips just a car ride away from Des Moines.

7. Before you pack away the bikes and helmets in the garage, take them for a good long ride on the High Trestle Trail.
