Polk County Conservation, Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation and REI West Des Moines invite you, your friends, and family out to Jester Park for an afternoon and evening of volunteerism and celebration in support of our treasured public trails. Feel the energy of hundreds of amazing student performers representing 77 participating Iowa high schools, at the Iowa High School Musical Theatre Awards Showcase. They will share highlights from their award-winning school musicals at the Des Moines Civic Center.
June 7th
Secret Life of Pets 2 hits theaters today. This new chapter explores the emotional lives of our pets, the deep bond between them and the families that love them, and answers the question that has long intrigued every pet owner: What are your pets really doing when you’re not at home?
June 9th
The Des Moines Symphony & Academy is excited to welcome audiences to its first sensory-friendly concert, Little Johnny & Papa Haydn at the Temple for Performing Arts. This sensory-friendly concert will tell a story of the most famous movie composer of our time, John Williams, and the “father of string quartets,” Joseph Haydn.

Clive Parks and Recreation will host a Teen Splash Party, an after-hours private party just for teens! Snacks, prizes, music, and games will be provided by the Aquatic Center staff.

Celebrate the summer solstice at Solstice, Stars, and Sleepout! hosted by Dallas County Conservation. Join a group to watch the solstice sunset and sunrise at the hilltop rock clock. Other activities include a hike down to the river, looking for fireflies and bats, listening for owls and so much more. Pre-registration is required. FREE
June 23rd
Singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes will be in Des Moines at the Iowa Events Center on his first headline concert, Shawn Mendes: The Tour.
June 24th
Make plans to golf at Children & Families of Iowa’s Family Tees Inter-generational Golf Tournament at Terrace Hills Golf Course. Teams will be placed into flights based on the age of the youngest player. Registration required.
