National Night Out is tomorrow night, August 4th, and Des Moines area communities, businesses, police departments and neighbors will be taking to the streets in a cohesive effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities. Join in the upcoming festivities and celebrate National Night Out by participating in an event near you!

For Des Moines’ twenty-sixth year of participation in National Night Out, DMPD has concentrated on encouraging neighborhoods to hold block parties, special activities, and turn on their porch lights. Commitments for activities have been received from the following groups:

Urbandale

Urbandale Police Department

Bring the entire family for a fun-filled evening of activities and games.  You will be able to meet officers from patrol, bicycle patrol, Suburban Emergency Response Team, K-9 Sabre and many more!  This year’s event will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Urbandale Police Department’s front parking lot and the soccer field to the west of the Police Department. The Urbandale Police Department has been awarded a national award the last five years for Outstanding Participation.

Lots of family fun is on the agenda for National Night Out in Windsor Heights.  There will be food and games, K-9 Demonstration, helicopter display, Jaws of Life display, bounce house and prizes.  The festivities are from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in Colby Park.
