Places to Enjoy Old School Arcade Games with Kids in Des Moines

Today’s kids have never experienced the need to leave their house to play video games.  Introduce them to some “old-fashioned” arcade fun and play games like Ms. Pac Man and Centipede at area arcades. Following are a few of our favorite places to enjoy arcade games in Des Moines. 

Chucky E. Cheese’s. 1431 22nd St, West Des Moines, IA 50266. Chucky E. Cheese’s is a kid’s paradise.  They serve up pizza, have a huge selection of video games; low-tech games like skee ball; kiddie rides and climbing areas for the little ones.  After all the tokens have been used up, kids can claim a prize with their ticket winnings.

Century Theatres.  101 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines, IA 50266.  A large movie theater in Jordan Creek Mall houses a gaming area. The arcade just inside the concession area houses 10 video games and three pinball machines.

Plaza Lanes Family Fun Center. 2701 Douglas Avenue, Des Moines IA, 50310. This family fun center in Des Moines has a large selection of arcade games, bowling, billiards and more.

Old School Pinball and Arcade.  209 SE Main Street, Grimes, IA 50111.  As the name suggests this is the place for a true old school arcade experience.  During the week they feature $10.00 Unlimited Play for adults and $8.00 Unlimited Play for kids under 12.

Ramada Tropics Resort.  5000 Merle Hay Rd, Des Moines, IA 50322.  This hotel offers a small arcade as entertainment for their younger guests. They have a small collection of non-violent arcade and skill based games for guests of all ages.

Warrior Lanes.  190 Laurel St, Waukee, IA 50263. This family friendly bowling alley is the place to play and eat.  Enjoy classic American fare from their kitchen, bowl and let the kids play arcade games and claim prizes.
