Updated March 27, 2019

Yoga classes for kids incorporate creative movement and pretend play, making them a perfect way to get your little one to exercise. The following studios offer a healthy dose of fun that will not only center your kids, but will also give you a few belly laughs along the way.

The Family Tree Yoga

3900 Ingersoll Avenue Suites 106 & 108 • Des Moines, IA 50312 • (515) 202-2585

You can find all of your yoga needs alone or with your family at Family Tree Yoga, a center where healing, focus, and progression come together in a super zen-like atmosphere. Moms-To-Be can recharge with their Prenatal Yoga program.  Little yogis (babies and toddlers) can participate in their Fun on the Run and Baby and Me Yoga. Consult their calendar for specific class times.

Sweat Fit Club

3975 100th Street • Urbandale, IA 50322 • (515) 778-5899

Kids Yoga classes are offered by session at this gym that focuses on mind, body, and nutrition.  Kids will learn “Connection”…between movement and breath. Lots of room for individual personalities and quirks to come through. You will be moving the entire class and there’s no need to register, just walk-in. Classes are 60 minutes long, and you’ll need to select a gym membership level to attend.

New U

3020 SW Oralabor Road, Suite 112 • Ankeny, IA 50023 • (515) 444-7322

New U  covers all the kid stages—from birth through the tween and teen years. Join a Mommy and Me class when your little one is just a few weeks old. Once your tyke is toddling around the yoga mats, it’s time for Kids Yoga. These classes for kids ages 4-12 teach yoga though play and encourage healthy, fit lifestyles. Family Yoga is very beginner friendly and all ages are welcome.

  1. I am the children’s yoga instructor at Radiant Om. Thanks for the shout-out! I am the only instructor in Iowa who is certified by both Global Family Yoga and StorytimeYoga. I especially enjoy working with children who are disadvantaged as well as those who are dealing with unique circumstances.
