If it’s been awhile since you’ve laced up a pair of bowling shoes, this summer is the perfect opportunity to take your bitty bowlers to a local alley and knock down a few pins. Thanks to the Kids Bowl Free program, you can entertain the whole family on a budget and stay active all summer long in Des Moines.

What is Kids Bowl Free?

Kids Bowl Free, coordinates with bowling centers across the U.S. to offer FREE games of bowling to children every summer. Registered kids receive two FREE games of bowling daily throughout the summer. Participating bowling alleys, set their own dates and times you can bowl free, so be sure to check with your local bowling center before heading out.  Most alleys still charge for shoe rental. If you bowl frequently, you can save by purchasing bowling shoes at the alley or online.

How Does it Work?

Summer registration is currently open at http://www.kidsbowlfree.com.  Throughout the summer, you’ll receive a weekly or daily email with vouchers from your LOCAL bowling alley good for kids to play two FREE bowling games a day. A quick search on the Kids Bowl Free website will show all the participating bowling centers in the state of Iowa. Specific details like shoe rentals, dates and age limits can be found on your local bowling center’s registration page.

Parents Can Bowl Too!

Who says kids get to have all the fun? While you’re enrolling your kids in the free bowling program, you can purchase a Family Pass, for just yourself or up to four adults to play two games per person per day.

  • You MUST register for Kids Bowl Free on-line. The coupons are emailed to you daily or weekly.
  • Some alleys also offer bowling shoe discounts or unlimited shoe rental passes. Research the bowling alleys near you to determine the best deals.
  • Call ahead before bowling. The program is offered daily, but you may not be able to bowl if the alley is booked with leagues or events.
  • Purchase a Family Pass so parents, grandparents, nannies can join in the fun! The Family Pass starts at $19.95 for a single adult and includes two games per day, so you can bowl with your kids. You can purchase a Family Pass to cover up to four adult family members. It will only cover the person or persons named on the pass.
  • You may need to purchase a Family Pass for an older sibling. Some participating alleys provide FREE bowling for kids 15 and under others 18 and under.  Again double check with your local bowling alley.
