School holidays seem to pile up this time of the year. You’ve just gotten back into your routine and its already time to plan for spring break, which runs from March 18-22, 2019 for public school kids in the Des Moines area.

Campers will show their compassionate side by completing service projects to help the ARL’s shelter animals. This fun-packed camp will consist of hands-on lessons, games, art, zoo exploration, and live animal encounters. Take a look at “Zoo Clues” and you can find signs of animals everywhere outside! The Bulldog Soccer Academy Spring Break Camp is designed for boys and girls ages 8-13 and will be offered March 18-22, 2019. Campers will be taught proper technique through small-sided games and contests. Each day campers will play, go swimming, and compete for prizes. Lunch will be provided for full-day campers. Send your kids on a rock climbing adventure! Climb Iowa’s unique camps will engage your child’s mind and body while keeping them active and teaching them new skills. Climb Iowa camps will introduce young adventurers to rock climbing, but they won’t stop there. Children will learn about trust, teamwork and problem solving while developing their rock climbing skills through interactive games and activities. Session 1 is March 18-19 and Session 2 is March 21-22, 2019. Camp times for each session is 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. For ages: 8 – 13.

Be sure to spend your spring break with Grand Slam U.S.A. The 23rd Annual Grand Slam U.S.A. Springbreak Baseball Camp will consist of instruction in hitting, pitching, bunting, baserunning, fielding, and other playing skills. The camp will be conducted the week of March 18-22, 2019. The camp is designed for youth ages 7-12 years of age interested in improving his or her skills. Players will be grouped by age and/or skill level. Camp hours are 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, they also offer an extended care option.

Kids in 3rd – 4th grade can stay off the couch during spring break and keep in the game at Ankeny Park and Recreation’s Volleyball Clinic. This four-day clinic is instructed by Ankeny Centennial High School Volleyball coach Jessica Rinehart. Serving, passing, bumping and setting drills will be the focal points of this clinic. Athletic attire and tennis shoes are required. March 25-28, 2019. Beginners 5:30 to 6:30 pm or Intermediate/Advanced at 6:30 to 7:30 pm.

Campers will learn and perform “Beyond the Mirror”. There are fun parts for boys and girls of all ages. When kids aren’t working onstage, they will be working on small group character work, brushing up on their acting skills in theater game sessions and working on music and simple choreography. This course offers hands-on opportunities to build and program robots. Working in small teams, students will design robotics systems to compete in fun real-world activities. Each day will bring a new challenge, and your team’s robot will have to morph to better adapt and compete. Students will compete in the battle bots competition at the end of the camp to prove their robot is the best. This class is perfect for the student who has a big imagination and likes to build things. March 18-22, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. For ages 9-15.
