Brenton Skating Plaza Open this Holiday Season

This post is sponsored by Brenton Skating Plaza.

Each year, we kickoff the holiday season with celebratory events around Greater Des Moines (DSM). This year, there’s the Holiday Promenade, Jingle in the Junction and even Virtual Visits with Santa, just to name a few. But there’s one thing that always puts me in the mood for the holidays — ice skating in Downtown DSM!

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I wasn’t sure I’d have the chance to lace up my skates and hit the ice, but with extra safety precautions, including limited hours and reservations through a new ticketing system, I’m excited to finally get the chance to skate at Brenton Skating Plaza.

Here’s what to expect if you’re planning to skate in 2020:

Ice Skating in Downtown DSM

Opening day is Friday, November 20! Daily sessions are 1.5 hours long and capacity will be limited to 99 skaters. Pre-registration is highly encouraged, but a few walk-up slots will be available. The Plaza will be cleaned in between sessions and all skates will be sanitized. All skaters and viewers are required to wear masks.
