The Central Library is located in the heart of downtown Des Moines at 1000 Grand Avenue in the Western Gateway Park near the Pappajohn Sculpture Garden. Offering unique architecture and a green roof, the Central Library has something for everyone. Our collection includes a wide variety of books, media, magazines, newspapers, microfilm, historic periodicals, city directories, sheet music and an extensive Iowa Collection. Free parking underground. The Central Library is a great place to get a book, use a computer or spend some time researching.
This historic garden has been a favorite spot for gardeners, strollers, and wedding parties since the 1930s. It is an All-American Rose Selection Public Display Garden. The Original Garden Planning was initiated in 1929 by the Des Moines Garden Club and the Club’s Founders Group. Landscape architect Harlan Bartholomew prepared the general plans and Des Moines architect Amos Emery designed the limestone pillars, benches, tea houses, and flagstone walks. In 1932, noted landscape architect Harold Pharnham completed the central garden’s detailed planting plans for more than 200 varieties of roses. It also included background plantings of shrub roses, climbing roses, lilacs, and evergreens. With both private and public support, the garden was completed in May of 1933.
The library's mission is to nurture the early learning experiences of young children and their families; support lifelong learning and enjoyment of all community members; and provide a comfortable and welcoming place for people to meet and grow.

Creative Movement is a family fun atmosphere where everyone can learn how to be a star on the stage! We offer a warm, loving environment where we teach dance skills along with respect and team playing characteristics. Not only is this a place children enjoy, but parents are also active members of the CMD community. This is a place where every child is safe and feels at home.
CMD offers classes in many styles and areas including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, pom, musical theatre, and tumbling! We offer classes for all ages and abilities beginning at 3 years through high school as well as an All Boys class! A majority of our classes are offered after school hours. CMD does offer a few morning and early afternoon classes. CMD follows the public school year with classes running from September up through our Spring Performance in the middle of June. We also follow the school system with school breaks and holidays (we do not recognize teacher in-service days). We finish the school year with a Spring Concert highlighting the dancers improvements of the year. Many stars are born!
This botanical gem is a nearly secret garden. The Demonstration Garden opens with a lovely rose garden accompanied by dwarf conifers and unfolds into two orchards, herb gardens, small fruits, native grasses, and many demonstration gardens full of creative ideas and horticulture information. The emphasis here is on learning, the bonus is the beauty that abounds.
The not-for-profit Des Moines Art Center engages diverse local and international audiences with the art of today through its museum and school, adding to the cultural record through collections and programs.
Besides the usual dance technique classes in ballet, pointe, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, and tap. We offer more classes that make your training at DanzArts truly unique.
We train our students in the art of dance and theater! We are a noncompetition studio that focuses on the fundamentals of training dancers of all ages. Our program begins with a parent/toddler class all the way to a large adult program.

Simple turn a registration form into our office. You can drop off, email, mail or even fax (515 222-9888) in your form. We will prorate the semester's tuition if you are joining a class already in progress. Don't worry we can help you with the math. Community Education is an opportunity for local citizens and community schools, agencies and institutions to become active partners in addressing education and community concerns.
