The Iowa Aviation Heritage Museum commemorates the history of Iowa Military Aviation and General Aviation History from Pre WW II to present day.
Museum is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 AM to 2 PM and on Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM or by Appointment
The Iowa Aviation Museum celebrates Iowa’s remarkable aviation heritage…from the state’s first recorded flight in 1910 to its native sons and daughters exploring the universe. Kids will love viewing the Museum’s vintage aircraft that are on display.
The Museum is open April to November, Monday through Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sundays 1:00 – 5:00 pm.
Admission is $10.00 for Adults, $9.00 Seniors and $5.00 Kids.
The Iowa Barnstormers are a professional indoor football team based in Des Moines, Iowa. They are currently members of the Indoor Football League. They play their home games at Wells Fargo Arena.
Capitol Tour Information
Tours are provided at no cost. Schedule a tour by calling 515-281-5591. Tour guides strive to accommodate every tour request, even those without a scheduled tour.
Tours are conducted Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
The tour guides and gift shop are located on the ground floor of the rotunda in the Iowa State Capitol.
Groups of 10 or more should schedule a tour of the Capitol online at www.legis.iowa.gov.
Self-guided tours of the Capitol and Capitol grounds are available anytime during normal business hours.
The Iowa Events Center is a multi-venue complex owned by Polk County and managed by Global Spectrum.

Wells Fargo Arena
Wells Fargo Arena is a 17,000 seat arena that opened July 12, 2005. The arena has been a consistent top 100 concert facility as ranked by Pollstar Magazine, hosts the Iowa High School State Wrestling and Basketball Tournaments annually, and is the home for the NBA D-League’s Iowa Energy, the AHL's Iowa Wild, and the AFL’s Iowa Barnstormers.
Hy-Vee Hall
Opened in the fall of 2004, Hy-Vee Hall is the state’s largest exhibit hall with 100,000 square feet of exhibit space and eight breakout meeting rooms. The exhibit hall is connected to an additional 50,000 square feet of contigious exhibit space in Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center.
Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center
Opened in January 2012, Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center is connected to Hy-Vee Hall and Wells Fargo Arena and boasts: 29 meeting rooms, the state’s largest ballroom at 28,730 square feet, and a tribute to Iowa’s military past, present and future in Memorial Hall. Originally constructed in 1955 as an auditorium before being repurposed into the state-of-the-art facility—artwork and commemorative items are displayed throughout the facility showcasing Iowa artists, paying tribute to past events, and providing a tribute to Iowa’s veterans.
