  • All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.
  • Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin.
  • Kids Workshop activities are scheduled on a first come/first served basis. Please do not arrive before 9:00 a.m.

Goldie’s Kids Club @ The State Historical Museum

Join Goldie the Goldfinch on the first Saturday of every month to learn about Iowa history and solve some of its mysteries! Through hands-on activities, artifact examinations, exhibit tours and more, children (ages 8-12) and their families can explore the past… like never before.

“History Mystery” programs encourage participants to examine historic artifacts to determine how they were used and who might have used them.

“Innovative Iowans” programs involve interactive activities that connect history with STEAM education – science, technology, engineering, art and math.

All of the programs are free, but advance registration is required for the hour-long programs. Each child must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program.

Goldie’s Kids Club: Storytime @ The State Historical Museum

Iowa is full of colorful characters! Meet a few each month when a team member from the State Historical Museum of Iowa reads a short story, and then stick around to participate in a hands-on activity, explore an exhibit or grab a snack upstairs at Cafe Baratta’s. The half-hour programs are recommended for young historians (ages 3-7) who are accompanied by an adult.

Babysitting Clinic @ Council Chambers, Clive City Hall

Ages 11 – 14

(Drop off and pick up at Parks and Recreation Lobby)

Learn the basics of being a successful babysitter. Class includes learning about behaviors, safety, child development, feeding and diapering, as well as an introduction of First Aid and CPR. You will receive a babysitter’s manual at the clinic.

A digital American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training certification card will be emailed to those that successfully complete the course. Participants will need to bring a sack lunch as the course will be held over lunch time
