Send your kiddos off to the races at one of these Easter Egg Hunts around Des Moines. Be sure to arrive early and don’t forget your basket! Events listed below are FREE unless otherwise noted. Saturday, March 19th
Join the Ankeny Jaycees at the Prairie Ridge Aquatic Center for their annual Easter Egg Hunt. The fun begins at 10:30 am and children will be separated into 4 groups – 1 to 2, 3 to 4, 5 to 6, and 7 to 8. Lots of family fun for everyone!
Carousel of Colors Egg Hunt
The Carousel of Colors Egg Hunt is hosted by Des Moines Parks and Recreation at Union Park. This annual event is for children 10 and under and starts at 10:00 a.m., with separate areas available for ages 5 and under and 2 and under to search. No registration is required and this event will happen rain or shine.
GPS Easter Egg Hunt
Join Des Moines Parks and Recreation Environmental Education on March 20th in Ewing Park for some traditional egg hunt fun with a modern fun twist. At this event, each registered participant will use a hand held GPS unit to find the location of prizes hidden in the park. The fee is $8 and you may register for either a 1:00 or 1:30 pm start time.
Friday, March 25th
Family Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt
When the sun goes down, the Family Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt in Indianola begins. Participants need to bring their own flashlight. After the hunt prizes will be awarded and then there will be s’mores for all. Their mascot, Scooter the Squirrel, will be there, too! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required.
Saturday, March 26th
Debra Heights Wesleyan Church
Debra Heights Wesleyan Church in Beaverdale will host their annual Easter Egg hunt at Woodlawn Park. They welcome infants through fifth graders from the community to see how many eggs they can “hunt up”.
Drake Christian Legal Society
The 4th Annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Drake Christian Legal Society will be held at the Olmstead Center on Drake University’s campus. Kids ages 2-12 can participate in the hunt from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.
The Special Egg Event
The Special Egg Event is for children with special needs and their families. The fun starts at 3:00 pm and goes until 5:00 pm at Valley Stadium in West Des Moines. Enjoy food, carnival games, activity areas, and egg hunts that are designed for your child. Please register by March 19th, 2016.
Ankeny First United Methodist Church
Ankeny First United Methodist Church’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday, March 26, at the Ankeny Aquatic Center, 10:30am, for children 2 years-4th grade. Invite your friends to this community-wide event.
Eggstravaganza at the Blank Park Zoo
Take the entire family out to Blank Park Zoo from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm to enjoy a day filled with fun and eggs. ‘Like’ them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter to participate in the Golden Egg Hunt. Starting on March 21st a daily clue will be given to point you in the right direction of the eggs. Eggstravaganza is FREE with Regular Zoo Admission.
EGGstravaganza at Capitol City Church
Capitol City Church celebrates Easter with an EGGstravaganza at 9:30 am. There will be Easter Egg Hunts for the following age divisions: Toddlers to 3-year-olds; 4-year-olds to Kindergarteners; First and Second Graders and Third through Fourth Graders. While waiting for their age group’s Egg Hunt, kids are invited to participate in other games and activities, such as Easter manicure, egg decorating, inflatables, Easter ring toss, and more.
Clive Fire Fighter’s Association
The Clive Fire Fighter’s Association is holding its 50th annual Easter Egg Hunt in Linnan Park at 9:00 a.m.The Easter Egg Hunt is for children ages 1-10. There will be separate egg hunts for younger kids and older kids. There are special eggs that can be exchanged at the fire station for a prize.
Come share in community at Creekside Church in Urbandale. Hear the Easter Story and help your kids search for over 4,000 Eggs from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm.
Dallas Center Annual Easter Egg Hunt
Join in some Easter fun at the Dallas Center Annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10:00 AM in Mound Park. In case of inclement weather, the egg hunt will be held at the DCG Middle School. There will be crafts and activities and kids will be able to visit the Easter Bunny at Memorial Hall.
Eggs, Eggs Everywhere! The Gateway Church
Bring your Easter basket, your family and all your friends to Western Gateway Park, downtown Des Moines for The Gateway Church’s 6th Annual Eggs, Eggs Everywhere! From 9:00 am to 12:00 pm kids will be able to hunt for more than 12,000 eggs. After the massive egg hunt, stick around for more family fun with an art station, giant inflatables and face painting.
Grace West Church
Your peeps can race through the Easter Egg Hunt at Grace West Church in West Des Moines. The hunt is for one year olds through sixth graders and starts at 10:00 am.
Grimes Easter Eggstravaganza
Be a part of the 2016 Grimes Easter Eggstravaganza sponsored by the Grimes Countyline Kiwanis. The festivities start at 9:00 am and go to Noon. There will be Easter egg hunts for kids and a visit by the Easter Bunny.
Hope Lutheran Church
Hope Lutheran Church in West Des Moines hosts its Kid Friendly Easter Services at 1:00, 3:00, 5:00 and 7:00 pm. Easter egg hunts and activities will be provided up to one hour before each of their Saturday services.
The Indianola Egg Drop!
It’s raining Easter Eggs at The Indianola Egg Drop! The gates at the Indianola Balloon Grounds open at 2:00 pm for face painting, petting zoo, and inflatables. At 4:30 pm, the first of three rounds of balloons and a helicopter will fly (weather permitting) over the drop zone and drop 50,000 Easter Eggs on the field. After the eggs are dropped, the canon will sound and the egg hunt is on!! The kids will be divided into three age groups: toddler – preschool, k – 2nd grade, and 3rd – 5th grade.
Family Easter Party at Living History Farms
Living History Farms is hosting a Family Easter Party at 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Activities include: toy hunts, preschool Bunnyland, live animals, horse and wagon rides, traditional games, and FREE refreshments. Selected townsfolk will open their doors for spring visitors in the town of Walnut Hill. Discounts are available for advanced ticket purchase.
Pleasant Hill Fire Department and Parks & Recreation
This annual Easter Egg Hunt hosted by the Pleasant Hill Fire Department and Parks & Recreation is for kids 12 and under. The hunt starts at 10:00 am at Doanes Park.
Spring Egg Hunt
Enjoy a Spring Egg Hunt at Reiman Gardens in Ames. Festivities will include an egg hunt for all children 6th grade and younger at 9:00 am. The morning will also include craft and activity stations, face painting, as well as a visit from Reiman Gardens’ Spring Bunny.
Tedd’s Garden Center
Tedd’s Garden Center hosts their annual Easter egg Hunt at 10:00 am for kids aged 10 and under. The Easter Bunny hides over 5,000 eggs and stays for the hunt and pictures afterwards. This event typically starts promptly at 10:00 am, don’t be late if you want to make sure your child finds eggs!
Urbandale Parks and Recreation
The Great Egg Hunt! hosted by Urbandale Parks and Recreation is for kids ages 10 and under at the Giovannetti Community Shelter. Kids can fill up their baskets with ALL the candy and eggs they see starting at 10:00 am.
Egg Dive at the Urbandale Pool
Make a splash at the Urbandale Pool at their 6th Annual Egg Dive. Go early, this popular event starts at 1:30 pm. Children will be divided into age groups to dive for colored eggs in the pool. Each egg will be turned in for a prize. $5.00 per person entering the pool area; only $1.00 for those with an annual pass.
Warren County Conservation
Join Warren County Conservation at 10:30 am for a high-tech outdoor Easter egg hunt. You will use a GPS unit to find eggs (and candy!) hidden throughout the park at the Annette Nature Center. There will be a simple egg hunt set up in their butterfly garden for toddlers. Please register in advance.
Waukee’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt
Hop on over to fill your baskets full of candy at Waukee’s annual Easter Egg Hunt! Three age groups get to take off and grab their share of eggs including, 4 years and under, 5-7 and 8-10 years old. The Easter Bunny greets kids in Centennial Park at 10:00 a.m. Rain or shine.
West Des Moines Christian Church
Hop on over to West Des Moines Christian Church. They will host their annual Easter Egg Hunt at 11:00 am.
West Des Moines Fire Department
The West Des Moines Fire Department will host their annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10:30 am at the DMACC West Campus located at 5959 Grand Ave, West Des Moines. Stop out for fire truck tours, face painting, candy, and photos with the Easter Bunny. Don’t be late!
Willow Creek Baptist Church’s Community Extravaganza
Be ready to have some fun at Willow Creek Baptist Church’s Community Extravaganza. The activities kick off at 10:00 am and include: a massive egg hunt (split into different age groups), carnival games, candy, prizes, face painting, and a giant Inflatable slide.
Windsor Heights’ annual Easter egg hunt with 7,000 candy and prize-filled eggs is scheduled for 9:00 am in Colby Park. Ages 5 and under will hunt in the tennis courts, ages 6-9 will hunt in the ball fields, and ages 10-12 will hunt in front of the Community Center. You will also be able to have your photo taken with the Easter Bunny and Sparky the Fire Dog. The event will take place rain or shine, so dress accordingly.

Immanuel United Methodist Church
Enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt after Easter worship at 10:00 am at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Des Moines.
