The Have A Heart 5K was first started in 2013 to benefit Ashley Gonyo, of West Des Moines, IA who was diagnosed at age 4 with leukemia (ALL). The Gonyo family and friends were so thankful for the outpouring of support from the community that they wanted to give back by making the Have a Heart race an annual event with proceeds going to local charities that support families affected by childhood cancer. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Children’s Cancer Connection!
