Hula Hoop Workshop: Spin into space with hula hoops! An instructor will teach basics of hula hooping along with tower building, obstacle courses, dance, and music. Each participant will get to choose and decorate their own hula hoop to take home. Library Community Room. Space limited. Registration required.
June 19 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
Kids Pokémon Card Club: Invite friends and make new ones while trading cards. Bring cards you want to trade, and we will provide a Pokémoninspired activity and snacks. Library Community Room. Registration required.
June 26 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Japanese Mask Demonstration: Join fellow earthlings and raise global awareness with our special guests from the Japan America Society of Iowa. Explore a small collection of Japanese Traditional and Anime masks through story-telling and demonstration. Make your own out of this world paper mask to take home after the presentation! Library Community Room Registration required.
July 10 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
STEAM Stations: Build and discover while exploring our various STEAM STATIONS with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math concepts. Options include: Snap Circuit kits, littleBits kits, robots, tech take-apart station and a space-inspired art corner. Library Community Room Registration required.
July 17 2:30 – 4:00 p.m.
Inflatable Art: Work with a professional local artist to design and create your very own inflatable art that will end up flying around the room while learning some really out of this world science facts! Library Community Room Space limited. Registration required.
July 31 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Space Explorers: Discover what it’s like to be an astronaut in this handson workshop with the Grout Museum! Participants will try their hand in multiple activities designed to sharpen critical thinking skills and encourage teamwork. Use a robotic arm to move objects like a rover, launch a rocket, build a space lander and more! Library Community Room Registration required.
