Whether you are looking for structured activities or just opportunities to get out and enjoy time together, our city is a great place to be for spring break. Des Moines Parks and Recreation has more than enough ways to keep you and your family active Monday, March 11 through Friday, March 15 at Pioneer Columbus Community Recreation Center (2100 SE 5th Street) for $1 per child/per day. REGISTRATION REQUIRED.
Sports Mini-Clinics (Ages 5 – 12)
Join us for fun and excitement on Monday – Thursday from 9 – 10 a.m. as we teach kids the basics of basketball, soccer, volleyball, and baseball. Participants will be separated by age groups and perform basic drills specific to each sport. The action will conclude with skills competitions and games.

Nature Programs (Ages 5 – 12)
From 10 – 11 a.m. Monday – Thursday, join our Environmental Education Supervisor Joel for some hands-on learning experiences, special visitors, crafts, and more!
- Bugs – Monday, March 11
- Birds – Tuesday, March 12
- Furs – Wednesday, March 13
- Owl Pellets – Thursday, March 14
Recess Games (Ages 5 – 12)
Burn some energy playing recess games such as Capture the Flag, Dodgeball, Parachute, and more! Monday – Thursday from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., join the Parks and Recreation staff for some fun!
Open Gym (Ages 5 – 12)
On Friday, March 15, enjoy some open gym time! All equipment will be provided.
