Come get your fancy on this spring with the effervescent (that’s a fancy name for bubbly) Fancy Nancy! Nancy steps out of the books and comes to life on stage, at the Des Moines Playhouse, through song and dance, with her pals Bree, Rhonda, Wanda and Lionel for Fancy Nancy: The Musical.
Nancy is excited about the school play and wants to be cast as the shimmering mermaid, but her hopes are quickly dampened when she’s cast as an ordinary tree and her buddy Bree gets the sweet role.The musical is based on the popular book series by Jane O’Connor and the Playhouse cast is directed and choreographed by Anne Arthur Frett with musical direction by Brianna Magel. The cast includes Alexis Ananda Cole, Paige Fahrenkrug, Sarah Hinzman, Andrew Overton, and Julia Polson.
Attending a show at the Kate Goldman Children’s Theatre at the Des Moines Playhouse is a great way to introduce kids to a live theater performance. Shows are specifically geared to young children and their families and offer a wonderful introduction to the performing arts. Don’t forget to meet the cast and get their autographs after the show. It’s a nice touch that makes a trip to a performance at the Kate Goldman Children’s Theatre really memorable for kids.
Every child can relate to Nancy and her tangled up feelings and grown-ups will even be dazzled by the heart-warming lessons that we never outgrow. C’est la vie! Fancy Nancy: The Musical is fun for the whole family! This show is recommended for ages 5 and up. The show runs 55 minutes with no intermission.
