Local designers, businesses and organizations have been putting together some great coloring sheets, activity pages and bingo cards for us, while we’re all hunkered down at home. Below you’ll find a handful of them for you and/or your kiddos to enjoy passing the time.

With all the craziness going on around us, simple things like coloring or just taking a walk around the neighborhood is such a relaxing activity to help take the mind off things. So, download your favorites, print them out, and stay creative, friends!

Des Moines Inspired Coloring Pages and Activity Sheets:

Beaverdale Neighborhood Association: While you are out on your walks… why not play some Neighborhood Bingo! Beaverdale Neighborhood Association has shared a bingo card designed by local artist, Rae Alexis Danneman on their Facebook page. You can download it and print at home.

Bozz Prints: This cool Valley Junction design shop has posted some fun Des Moines themed coloring pages, crosswords and word finds on their Facebook page.

Des Moines Art Center: The Art Center recently posted a “Paper Sculpture Puppets” coloring sheet on their Facebook page. Take a stroll through (staying socially distant!) or drive by Pappajohn Sculpture Park and then make these cool puppets.

Greater Des Moines Partnership: As part of their #DSMStrong initiative, the Partnership is offering DSM-themed coloring sheets that families can color with a purpose. Adding colorful hearts to doors and windows is a national movement to thank and support healthcare workers and other essential personnel for their service. Goldfish Swim School – Urbandale: To help you make the most of every moment at home with your little ones, Goldfish Swim School created some fun activities they hope will make a splash in your family’s routine! So, turn off the TV, put away the phone and swap an hour of screen time for some tech-free ways to keep your kids entertained.

Iowa Wild: Your kids might be going stir crazy with school being cancelled and having to stay inside. The Iowa Wild have posted some coloring sheets that you can print out to help provide a distraction.

Polk County Conservation: Always encouraging families to get outside, Polk County Conservation has posted a “Backyard Bird Sounds Scavenger Hunt” on their Facebook Page. Go take a stroll around your neighborhood or backyard to search for these common birds by sound! 

XO-LP: This local designer has several printable pages available for download on her website.  The printables aren’t free, but coloring sheets are still a great bargain at just $1 per download!

The Vinyl Studio – Another awesome Valley Junction designer has put together some fun activities, bonus you can donate to a good cause! Purchase “Color for a Cause”, for $1 a 17-page downloadable coloring book with the work of local artists and small businesses. Or, download a “Des Moines Scavenger Hunt” for $3 with 25 spaces for places and things to see and find in our community. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Food Bank of Iowa!
