As the first day of school draws near, we start thinking of it as the last hurrah to summer. Shopping for school supplies can be a great opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with your kids. Schedule dates with each of your children individually and go to lunch, buy that first day outfit, get a new haircut and do something fun. Now that its August, hectic school days are going to be here before we know it. Use these last couple of weeks to check off the last few items on your kids’ summer bucket list.

- Go on a family bike ride.
- Reel in some fun fishing.
- Cruise into a drive-in movie.
Before the First Day for Tweens & Teens
Use these last few days of summer to make some fun memories with your older kids. Once school starts and they’re back to hanging out with their friends more, you’ll be yearning for the days when they were just hanging around your house.
- Rent a paddleboard or kayak.
- Go to an I-Cubs game.
- Spend an afternoon volunteering.
- Play some games and enjoy some grub.
- Challenge them to a game of mini golf.
