May Day Basket Ideas 4 Kids

What’s old is new again!  Start a May Day tradition with your kids this year by leaving baskets on your friend’s and neighbor’s doorsteps on May 1st.  You can fill the May Day baskets with flowers, candy, or trinkets to brighten their day.  Don’t forget to ring the doorbell when dropping off the basket and RUNNNNN!!!  If you get caught, you’ll get a big SMOOCH!

We’ve put together a couple of cute kid friendly May Day Basket ideas.  One with a sugary treat and one without.  It’s nice to have a non-food option with everybody’s dietary restrictions and food allergies.  Or, if you’re like us, you still have a bucket full of candy leftover from Easter!

Candy Free May Day Basket Idea

Most kids can always use pencils and erasers, right?  Especially, at the end of the school year when supplies may be starting to run low. So why not include a few in a cute flower inspired May Day Basket?

Supplies:

• Paper Cup
• Hole Punch
• Pipe Cleaners
• Pencils
• Erasers
• Stickers
• Paper Flowers (included in FREE printable below)
• Tissue Paper
• Tag (included in FREE printable below)

Punch two holes opposite of each other in the paper cup.  Attach and secure the pipe cleaner to make a handle.  Print and cut out or punch the paper flowers and attach to the pencils with tape. Place stickers in the cup, add the tissue paper and set the erasers on top.  Insert “flower” pencils into the cup.  Print, cut out and attach the Happy May Day tag to the front of the paper cup.

Cupcake May Day Basket Idea

This idea is SO simple.  Just place a cupcake in a cup and you’re good to go.  Better yet, set up a little assembly line and let the kids make the May Day baskets.  Easy, peasy!!!

Supplies:

• Clear Cup
• Hole Punch
• Pipe Cleaners
• Flower Cupcake Liner
• Cupcake
• Tag (included in FREE printable below)

Punch two holes opposite each other on the clear cup.  Attach and secure the pipe cleaner to make a handle.  Place the cupcake liner and cupcake in the cup. Attach the Happy May Day tag to the front of the cup with some tape.
