Nothing says fall (or Halloween) quite like a pumpkin. When these festive gourds start appearing on front stoops and in windows across central Iowa, you know autumn really has arrived. This year, skip the grocery store pumpkins and take a day trip to one of the area’s excellent pumpkin patches, where you’re sure to run into more fall fun.
Pumpkin Patch Season is Mid-September through the end of October. Be sure to call ahead or check social media sites to confirm hours, attractions, availability, and prices. Many are small, family-run operations, and harvests and operating hours can fluctuate from week to week.
