Where to See Fireworks this Summer in Des Moines

Turn your eyes to the skies and check out some dazzling fireworks displays this summer in Des Moines. With kids’ activities, parades and more, the fireworks are only part of the fun in communities around Des Moines! Be sure to check with event organizers before heading to an event since plans may change due to weather or other conditions. 

June 24th

Iowa Cubs

Fireworks will be shot off after the game at Principal Park.

July 1st

Yankee Doodle Pops

Fireworks will be shot off over downtown Des Moines at the finale of the Des Moines Symphony’s Yankee Doodle Pops concert.

July 2nd

Goodguys 25th Heartland Nationals

There will be a Saturday Night Fireworks Extravaganza at the Goodguys 25th Heartland Nationals at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

July 3rd

Live at the Creek

Decoy will start the night off at 5:00 pm with great music at the Jordan Creek Amphitheater in West Des Moines.  The concert will be followed by a fireworks display at dusk.

Prairie Meadows 4th of July Extravaganza

Fireworks will be shot off at dusk at Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino in Altoona.

July 4th

Adventureland

Adventureland Park will be shooting off fireworks that include a MONSTER of a finale for in park guests at approximately 9:30pm.

Home Base Iowa Fireworks Show

This firework display will take place at 10:00 pm at the Grimes Sports Complex on South James Street.

Iowa Cubs

Fireworks will be shot off after the game at Principal Park.

Waukee 4th of July Celebration

After the band plays in Centennial Park fireworks will be shot off at dusk.

West Des Moines Fireworks

Starting at dusk, enjoy the annual fireworks extravaganza over Blue Heron Lake in Raccoon River Park.

Urbandale 4th of July Celebration

Fireworks will be shot off from Walker-Johnston Park in Urbandale at 10:00 pm.

Fourth of July in Windsor Heights

Fireworks will end the evening in Colby Park and are scheduled to go off promptly at 10:00 pm.

July 10th

Ankeny Summerfest

Fireworks will be shot off after the festival at about 10:00 pm from Prairie Ridge Middle School and Prairie Ridge Sports Complex.

July 23rd

Thunder Over Clive

Clive’s annual “Thunder Over Clive” fireworks display will start around 9:45 pm.

July 30th

National Balloon Classic

Fantastic Fireworks will be shot off after the evening Balloon Flight in Indianola.

August 5th

Iowa Cubs

Fireworks will be shot off after the game at Principal Park

August 6th

National Balloon Classic

Fantastic Fireworks will be shot off after the evening Balloon Flight in Indianola.

August 26th
