Many retailers will be trying to get rid of their holiday inventories and we consumers need to figure out what’s good to buy now and what’s not. If you’re not all shopped out, read on to find out what to buy after Christmas.
Anything Christmas Related
Ugly Christmas sweaters, decorations, wrapping paper, Christmas cards, candy you name it. If it’s Christmas related its got to go and stores will offer steep discounts to get it out the door.
Apparel
Clothing deals dominate after Christmas sales. Winter coats, hats and gloves are also steeply discounted.
Calendars
Calendars are a popular Christmas gift. If you can wait to purchase your calendar after Christmas you’ll get a better deal.
Gift Sets
Look for bath, fragrance, cooking and make-up sets at deep discounts. Save them for next Christmas or give them as birthday gifts. Look for super cheap items with Christmas packaging, you can always re-package the set or give the items individually.
Linens and Bedding
January has been THE month to purchase new linens and bedding during “White Sales” for over a hundred years.
Perfume
If you want to smell nice for less, avoid the holiday and Valentine’s Day fragrance rush. You’ll see much better prices in January or after February.
Sports and Fitness Equipment
Retailers trying to take advantage of consumer’s New Year’s resolutions offer deals on sports and fitness equipment. They’re not the steepest discounts of the year, but worth checking out.
Toys
Toy departments that overstocked for the holidays will be selling off the extras. Make sure you know what’s a good deal and what’s not.
Video Games
If you have a gamer in the house this is a great time of year to stock up on video games. Especially for older systems.
