The promise of Camp Fire is Young people want to shape the world. Camp Fire provides the opportunity to find their spark, lift their voice, and discover who they are. In Camp Fire, it begins now. Light the fire within.  Camp Fire Heart of Iowa programs are open to all youth pre-K to 12th grade.  Programs include before and after school care, school year programs, summer programs/camps and special events that emphasize camping and other outdoor activities.

Pros

Camp Fire, established in 1910 was the first multi-cultural organization for girls in the U.S.  The organization expanded to include boys in 1975.  Camp Fire does not require a statement of faith and includes youth of all races, religions, socioeconomic status, disability, and sexual orientation.   Camp Fire’s programs help both girls and boys cultivate their unique talents and skills by offering a progression of programs designed to give youth more opportunities and responsibilities as they age.

Cons

Camp Fire offers so many programs that you may find it a bit overwhelming or confusing the first time you review what they have to offer.  Depending on where you live in the metro there may not be a program offered close to where you live.
