    1. Dined at IHOP in WDSM tonight. Never again. We watched the manager (I assume) bully a transgendered employee the entire time, refuse to let her have any tables… meanwhile, my eldest got to eat dinner with no drink. I had to track down my own silverware. We had to wait for probably 20 minutes to order our food. I kept giving looks to the rude little lady (manager?) so she would put her mask on. It was advertised that kids eat free Monday. Our entire reason for going. We point it out. She goes off on my husband, treating him rudely as if we can’t afford the meal. Bullied a transfendered person for over an HOUR. Called corporate but not sure how to explain this to my children

  1. Guadalajaras in Ankeny is tricky. Your child has to be under 8 and it is only with certain adult meals. I thought the food was overpriced too compared to other, nicer Mexican restaurants and service was slow…my kids were ready to leave before the food finally arrived.

  2. I would not go back to Village Inn with children. Numerous reviews mirrored our 1+ hour wait today. Pathetic excuse for a restaurant. We were sat by a table filled with dirty dishes. Ordered our food right away. They kept cleaning tables and piling more dirty dishes on the table beside us. After waiting an HOUR for grilled chicken breast and a side of broccoli, I requested to speak with a manager. The GENERAL MANAGER got snarky with me, never once apologizing and when I said I wouldn’t pay for the meal after that experience all he said is “I’ll take care of it” and stormed off. The server wasn’t any better and his remarks were “we get busy on holidays” when I pointed out he sat people AFTER we ordered yet brought them their food while we still waited for ours, he had no good excuse.

  3. Qdoba at Clive and Ingersoll do not participate for kids eat free. Can we get off the list?

  4. Famous Dave’s is incorrect – we were there this evening and they said they do not offer it in West Des Moines. Some franchises do but she said they do not.

  5. Maxie’s no longer offers the kids eat free on Saturday. Their website still states this and they honored it for us. However, they stated that “the website is locked and they can not change it”.
