Young Parent’s Initiative Class

The next Young Parent’s Initiative class will begin on June 6^th from 2-4 PM. The class has 4 sessions and will be held at the same time every week.

FREE child care is provided by Mercy College nursing students.

After attending the 1^st session, parents will receive a gift card to St. Vincent de Paul. After completing the 4 sessions, parents receive free “baby swag” that can value up to $200. This can include but is not limited to strollers, cribs, baby formula, etc.

The parenting class varies according to the parents interests. Instructors speak to the class about different topics including child safety, child nutrition, breast feeding, etc.  A Healthy Relationships curriculum is also taught during the classes and covers topics such as blame, confrontation and apologies. The nice part about the class is that it is very versatile and can fit the needs of many different mothers and fathers. The only criteria for the class is that parents must be between the ages of 13-30 and must be somewhat new to parenting (0-4 years) or expecting.
