Kids going into Grades K-1 (2018-2019 School Year)

This is a drop off program.  Parents/caregivers will drop kids off at the GCC during check-in time and then will check them out at the end.

Max of 40 kids.  The objective of Grimes Safety City is to provide an early educational program for elementary school children.  The program will teach children about vehicular, pedestrian, bicycle and fire safety. The skills taught at Safety City will empower youngsters with the ability to avoid needless accidents and instill good safety habits at an early age.

Grimes Safety City will also include various activities involving anti-bullying, pedestrian rules, street crossing, stop lights, fire department, respect for authority, playground safety, bike safety, and many more.  A miniature “city” will be used to teach students correct street crossing techniques using tricycles (as vehicles) and by walking.  Special appearances by the Fire Department, Police Department, Teachers, and more.  Students will learn about safety and have much more one on one contact with volunteers during this course.

Register online or stop in to the Grimes Rec Office at the GCC to register for this event with cash or check.
